About French Quarter

Known as the Vieux Carre, the French Quarter may be the single most recognizable neighborhood in New Orleans. It's found on a crescent in the Mississippi River and includes some of the highest ground in the city. The French Quarter is known as the cultural hub of New Orleans.

For centuries, this neighborhood has become the home for writers and artists of all kinds. It's one of the oldest neighborhoods in New Orleans and many famous names, such as Mark Twain and James Audubon have called it home.

However, the old space for the Italian Market is now full of great art galleries and unique shops. Royal Street is another popular spot for shopping with plenty of galleries, antiques and other options all throughout.

 

Dining ranges from fine dining to casual with plenty of great options in the French Quarter. Cajun and Creole are huge within the area, but you can also find plenty of other options.
